Mustang is an expert in the design and manufacturing of test stands to meet customer testing specifications (DNWR, NMWR, TM, TO, A1, NAVAIR, MIL and others) while listening to our customers’ existing experiences and reviewing current and new testing specifications. We jointly discuss test article and machine ergonomic interface to load, test and unload a test article. Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic test article interface connections are jointly discussed and engineered for safety first and robust long service life. Mustang supplies an intuitive prompt base operator interface for easy operator testing instructions. In many cases the operator interface will allow the operator to pause testing, back-up step, bypass a step and later return to a test. The operating software stores test data in a PC data base and/or on a facility networked drive. The test stand are usually supplied with a test script builder to allow the supervisor to make testing and pass/fail adjustments as well as to develop new test or sub test. These sub test could be used to operate the system for component diagnostic test in case of a test failure and after repair verification. Multi-level operator access in the software is available and can be configured for supervisors, operators, maintenance, calibration and other required
Much more than the typical test stand supplier, over the last 35+-years Mustang has steadily grown into a highly diversified, vertically integrated, technology-based engineering firm with world-class design, manufacturing, software, controls, training, installation and facility integration capabilities that position Mustang as a very unique supplier to the industry. In addition to a team of experienced software engineers, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers who develop all of the company’s products and systems in-house, Mustang’s versatility and nimble customer reaction speed are some of our best strengths.
Mustang existing product offering for the PTO, Final Drive Unit and Angle Drive Unit is not inclusive and we are able to duplicate existing designs for duplicate system or modify existing designs for new or upgraded equipment. Mustang is a vertically integrated company and performs in-house engineering, manufacturing, controls and software. This allows us to easily make the appropriate modifications to our existing system.
The PTO, Final Drive Unit and Angle Drive Unit are based on Mustangs hardened subsystems:
- Structural: Test article; handling, mounting, adapters, support frame structure and test article covers
- Powertrain: Test article connections to input(s) and output(s) power train motoring/loading units
- Lubricant & Coolant: Test article lubrication and coolant supply & return connections, conditioning and monitoring sub systems
- Motoring/Loading Unit: Test article testing requirements will dictate the speed, torque and power performance requirements for the input(s) and/or loading units. Mustang is easily able to size these motoring/loading systems for your application.
- Test Stand Control System: The test stand’s input(s)/output(s) motoring devices, lubricant systems, cooling systems, test stand safety sensors, test article measurement sensors, sub system measurement sensors and manual operator interface will be monitored and controlled by the Control System.
- Operator Software: The software will be configured to operate the test stand and to prompt the operator through a configurable test sequence. The software will be used to calibrate the test stand sensors, diagnostically monitor the test stand sensors and manually control the test stands sub systems.
Should you have a gearbox loading application we can assist with either unloaded spin up test or fully loaded dynamic and static testing of the gearbox. If required we can also apply physical push pull loads on housing in either a 1-degree of freedom up to 6+-degrees of freedom on a test box. Mustang is an engineering company and can assist with your testing needs.
If you have an existing PTO, Final Drive Unit and Angle Drive Unit that required service, repair or upgrading please contact Mustang Sales so we can work with you for a solution.
The technical specifications for the various PTO, Final Drive Unit and Angle Drive Unit are outlined in their DNWR or NMWR testing specifications. Mustang uses these specifications and our customers experiences to develop testing equipment to meet the testing specifications that adheres to our customers desires. Mustang currently has many of these DNWR and NMWR testing requirements associated with the testing of the PTO, Final and Angle Drive Unit in our corporate library.
Mustang is able to provide testing stands from fractional Hp to multiple Megawatts and low speed to high speeds up to and above 120,000rpm.
