Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) testing is required for engineers to evaluate a vehicle’s sound under real world road conditions with in a laboratory environment. The Chassis Dynamometer is required to be very quite during operation so it does not emit sounds at a levels within the range of test. The bench mark number for the Chassis Dynamometer is 50 DB(A) at 100 km/hr. MAE has designed our world class Chassis Dynamometers and support equipment to exceed the perform requirements under these demanding NVH testing conditions while having the durability to last for the test cells life cycle. MAE engineers our NVH Chassis Dynamometers for quite running.
MAE provides several standard NVH Chassis Dynamometer products for the NVH testing environments. The selection of your NVH Chassis Dynamometer will be dependent on the test cell vehicle capacity and performance requirements of the Chassis Dynamometer. Mustangs NVH Chassis Dynamometers are nominally designed to operate in test cells with temperature ranges 5°C to 40°C and altitude ranges from sea level up to 3,300 ft (1,000 m) prior to performance derating. MAE’s NVH Chassis Dynamometers are designed and constructed with specialized components and techniques to reduce to Chassis Dynamometer sound generation level while running. MAE uses special hydrostatic roller bearing systems to lift the rollers on a film of oil during quit running operation. The rollers have internal cavities with special sound suppression material attached to the inside of the roll. The individual rolls have, roll isolation environment enclosure with sound suppression material to mitigate pit noise from migrate to the test cell. The top deck cover plates are coated with sound suppression material and interlocked to keep lower pit sound from migrating to the test cell. The Chassis Dynamometer is mounted on large isolation blocks which reduces vibration to the facility. MAE offers various Roll Surface Plates which can be bolted for low speed testing on the Chassis Dynamometer. If your testing requirements are outside of our standard NVH environmental ranges please contact MAE with your specific requirements for a quick quote.
MAE offers various motor to roll configurations, if you choose a multiple axle drive system with independent motor/roll configuration you will be able individually control each wheel. Independent wheel control and monitoring makes it easier to isolate sounds emanating from a component of the vehicle. In some instances customers desire to expand the testing capacity of their facility which enhance the justification of the their NVH test chamber by purchasing a higher performance Chassis Dynamometer for other R&D proposes such as independent wheel control systems, performance validation, system tuning, braking system, traction control.
