EMC/RFI Chambers

MAE’s Chassis Dynamometers reproduce and monitors road conditions, skid conditions, ABS events when demanded.

EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) also called RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) Chamber Testing is a unique testing environment with many controlled requirements for our EMC/RFI Chassis Dynamometers. MAE has designed our world class Chassis Dynamometers and support equipment to exceed the perform requirements under these demanding EMC/RFI testing conditions while having the durability to last for the test cells life cycle. MAE has designed our EMC/RFI Chassis Dynamometers to operate within this difficult testing environment with no detectable Radio Frequency Radiation in the 30 kHz to 3 GHz range.

MAE provides several standard EMC/RFI Chassis Dynamometer products for these testing environments. The selection of the Chassis Dynamometer will be dependent on the test cell capacity, vehicle sizes and vehicle performance requirement for the Chassis Dynamometer.  Mustangs EMC/RFI Chassis Dynamometers are designed to operate in test cells with nominal temperature ranges 5°C to 40°C and altitude ranges from sea level up to 3,300 ft (1,000 m) prior to performance derating. MAE’s EMC/RFI Chassis Dynamometers are designed and constructed with specialized components and techniques to reduce to near zero radio frequency radiation from the Chassis Dynamometer. MAE uses special motor drives, motors and cabling systems to reduce the radio frequency radiation from the chassis dynamometer and support systems. If your testing requirements are outside of our standard EMC/RFI environmental ranges please contact MAE with your specific requirements for a quick quote.

If you choose a multiple axle drive system with independent motor/roll configuration you individually control each wheel independently. Independent wheel control and monitoring makes it easy to monitor for individual wheel braking system malfunctions, traction control systems and other vehicle powertrain anomalies while under test. In some instances customers desire to expand the testing capacity of their facility which enhance the justification of the their EMC/RFI test chamber by purchasing a higher performance Chassis Dynamometer for other R&D proposes.
