Mustang’s Participation In The Aftermarket Mobile Emissions Testing Industry Dates Back To The Industries Beginnings In The 70’S And 80’S. Mustang Pioneered The I/M 240 Chassis Dynamometer Concept In Cooperation With The United States EPA In The Late 80’S And Early 90’S, And Designed And Built The First I/M 240 Dynamometer In 1988. In 1996, Mustang Designed And Built One Of The First ASM Chassis Dynamometers To Receive A Passing Grade From California’s Bureau Of Automotive Repair. Since That Time, Mustang Has Supplied Thousands Of Such Systems To Various States Including CA For ASM Testing. Since 1988, Mustang Has Furnished Over 14,000 Emissions Dynamometers To States Such As AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, MA, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, UT, VA, DC, WA, TN, WI And IL, And Has Also Provided Equipment And Emissions Testing Services To Foreign Nations Such As Canada, Mexico, Australia, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, India, El Salvador, Bolivia, Bermuda, Jamaica And Egypt. Total Emissions Testing System and Support

In Addition To The Supply Of Equipment, Mustang Has Also Supplied Software, Vehicle Information Databases, Consulting, And Program Management Services. In 1999, Mustang Dynamometer Was Awarded A Contract From The City Of Memphis, TN For The Supply And Management Of A Turnkey Emissions Inspection Program To Replace The Current Program In Place At The Time, Which Was Outdated And Ineffective. During A Period Of 9-Months, Mustang Completely Revamped The City’s Emissions And Safety Inspection Program, From The Supply Of Equipment To The Installation Of New State-Of-The-Art Network Equipment And Software. Mustang Has Been Asked To Implement Similar Programs In Countries Such As Bolivia And El Salvador. Since 2000, El Salvador Has Been Testing All Of Its Vehicles Using Mustang Dynamometer Equipment And Software.

The MAE Light Duty Emissions Dynamometer system is designed to measure vehicle emissions and power while on the road as well as on a chassis dynamometer and then compare the emissions and power results from both test sequences. The test vehicle is instrumented with a Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) and an on-road data acquisition system to measure vehicle emissions, performance and the driving data. The vehicle driving data is downloaded to the chassis dynamometer control system to reproduce the loads seen on the road, including grades and wind. Other environmental elements such as temperature and altitude are factored into real time compensation algorithms for both the emissions measurements and power corrections.
