April 18, 2014 – Twinsburg, Ohio, USA – Mustang Advanced Engineering (MAE) today announced the company has successfully delivered and installed a testing system capable of conducting end-of-line tests on every tractor produced at AGCO’s assembly plant in Jackson, Minnesota.

The test system consists of a jounce tester, a PTO testing system, and an advanced chassis dynamometer developed specifically for tractor testing all tightly integrated into an automated package.

The jounce tester consists of two plates recessed into the factory floor controlled by electro-mechanical actuators which move up and down at various frequencies to subject the tractor to in use, rough field conditions while AGCO personnel monitor various electrical and hydraulic components.  The process is completely automated, guiding the test operator through the various testing steps to ensure consistent testing across every tractor tested.

The PTO testing system applies a load to the tractor’s PTO output through an ISO Class 3 splined coupling shaft.  The system measures and collects the torque and speed of the tractor’s PTO output across its functional rpm band.  The system is capable of loading 792 HP/5,615 N-m at 1,000 rpm, with a maximum speed rating of 3,500 rpm.

The chassis dynamometer utilizes a unique design developed by MAE engineers to provide AGCO the ability to test both wheel and track driven tractors on one machine.  The dynamometer tests the tractor’s steering, brakes, suspension, transmission shift quality, and engine performance.  The dynamometer is rated at 1,900 HP peak at 35 mph.

Michael Caldwell, Sales Manager, worked closely with AGCO’s engineering staff to meet current testing requirements and also to provide sufficient flexibility to test future tractor designs.  “MAE strives to provide world class testing solutions for a variety of manufacturers at competitive price points.”
